Supporter celebration evening helps the CGD Society

The mum of a 14-year-old boy who was supported by the CGD Society for over 11 years has raised £3,000 for the charity to “give something back”.

Angela Stockwell, whose son Sam who had a successful bone marrow transplant (BMT) in December 2011, and her friend Denise Tyler, organised the Chelmsford charity auction of donated prizes.

Around 100 people came along to the event which took place at Russells Restaurant in Great Baddow, Chelmsford in November. Tickets were sold for £25 and the evening also included music, a buffet and raffle.

“We called it a celebration evening of Sam's BMT success, and a thank you to the great support from the CGD Society,” says Angela. “Having their help and that of Helen, their CGD specialist nurse, was such a life saver when we were stressed and going through a lot of decisions.”
